Peer Advising Appointments

Sociology Peer Advising

Peer advisors are students who have been trained in advising to help sociology majors and minors gain more information as to which classes to take, which opportunities exist across campus, and which career paths to follow.

To schedule an appointment, please email the peer advising volunteers at mentor.unccsociology@gmail.com.

Please allow up to 48 hours for a response and include 2 avaliable times, so that one of the volunteers can contact you about scheduling an appointment.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND BEFORE MAKING AN APPOINTMENT:

  1. Much of the information that students request when receiving advising is readily available on our website.
  2. Use the CAPP tool in your Banner Self Service to examine your transcripts and see how many requirements you have left to fulfill at any time.
  3. If you are declaring a major or minor, you do not need to make an advising appointment. You can bring your Change of Major/Minor form to the department and have it signed at the front desk.
  4. Please provide 24 hour notice of a cancellation so that other students will have a chance to use that appointment time.
  5. Please take time to research questions you have before making an advising appointment, there are many answers available in the course catalog or in other areas of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Advising Center and the UNC Charlotte Academic Advising website. Be sure you have specific questions in mind before making your appointment so that you can receive accurate and efficient information.
