BIO

Victoria E. Rankin earned her Ph.D. at the University of Virginia and specializes in the sociology of education and disparity in academic achievement. Her research interests include equity in education, social inequality, parent engagement, comparative education, race and ethnicity, and the intersection of transportation and school access. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte in 2017, Dr. Rankin held the position of senior researcher at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) in Washington, DC for 10 years. At AIR, she served as PI, co-PI or senior researcher on a variety of projects encompassing areas such as early childhood education, the disparity in special education, and college and career readiness. For 7 of the 10 years at AIR, she also held the position of adjunct Assistant Research Professor of Sociology at The George Washington University.
