The Master of Arts in Sociology
The Master of Arts in Sociology provides students with theoretical and methodological skills necessary to undertake analysis of contemporary social issues and problems. The curriculum prepares students who wish to pursue further graduate education in sociology or related fields, applied research, and teaching at the collegiate level.

The curriculum consists of 35 graduate hours with four core classes, one additional methods course, five electives or tutorials, and two courses towards a thesis or research practicum.

We recently created a new concentration in Applied Social Research to better serve our students’ needs. This concentration is designed for those who are interested in developing practical skills in data analytics and for those who aspire to use their sociological training to help solve real-world problems in our communities.
